Brief Bio

As an Assistant Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering studying sustainable biological wastewater treatment processes, Stadler's research focuses on advancing water reuse and energy recovery from wastewater using a multi-disciplinary approach that combines microbial ecology, environmental chemistry, and sustainability assessment. 

Prior to joining Rice, Dr. Stadler received her B.S. in Engineering from Swarthmore College, and  M.S and  Ph.D. from the University of Michigan in Environmental Engineering, where her research was focused on understanding the Impact of Low Oxygen Wastewater Treatment on Microbial Community Characteristics and Micropollutant Fate.

Dr. Stadler has published several papers in leading journals and in the field of environmental engineering and has given numerous presentations at national and international conferences. She has received continuous honors and awards for her research including the Fulbright Scholarship, both a Rackham Merit and a Predoctoral Fellowship, The Michigan Water Environment Association John P. Hennessey Scholarship, a Dow Sustainability Doctoral Fellowship and a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship.
